Strawberry Singh has thrown us a curly one for this weeks meme challenge. It is good to stretch the artistic brain matter from time to time although poetry is not a strong point in my english language arsenal especially when it comes down to constructing a Haiku.
As Strawberry wrote on her blog, “A Haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five.So the meme for this week is, write a Haiku about your Second Life.”
Following Strawberry’s advice I hit the website WriteAHaiku.com and the following is as good as it gets.
For those that like a bit of knowledge with their poetry, the origins of the Haiku can be traced back to the pre-Buddhist and early shinto ceremonial rituals of the early 7th Century. These early forms of poetry known as Waka soon spread across the japanese countryside with changes occurring over the centuries till the Haiku as we know it today was developed around 500 years ago. Haiku writing did not become popular in the western nations till the 1950’s when scholars, poets and students embraced the style.
