You know your mood will affect theirs so even with broken sleep and an exhaustion that can only be lived, you smile and keep upbeat. Preparing nutritional meals hoping that maybe this mealtime they get more than a passing glance. Holding out the drink cup as if it is a gold trinket, you plead for just one sip because you have noticed the fluid intake is low. You hold negotiations that would win you the nobel peace prize for finding the solution to world peace just to get 4mls of medication in.
With child breathing heavily on your shoulder eventually they fall asleep and you place them into bed. The ventilator is pumping eculyptus oil into the air to ease their breathing, knowing there is nothing more you can do FINALLY you sit down. No distractions or demands.
You think .. “hmmm blog post” … the mind goes blank and you realize you just don’t have it within you to be creative tonight. Instead you yearn to light some candles, curl in bed with a cup of relaxing white tea and watch your favourite feel good movie, The Wedding Singer.
Optimistically thinking … tomorrow will be better …
