Welcome to the famous SecondLife Corn Fields. What you have never heard of them?
Any avatars hovering around the three plus year mark would remember the stories of those naughty pixel people, also known as griefers, being sent to “time out” by the lindens. Off to the corn field they would go, to think about what they had done. This was always rumour because the Corn Field was closed to the public. Unless you knew a naughty folk you just had to believe in the myth.
SecondLife Wiki confirms this explaining that “The corn field” was cut off from communication with the rest of the world (a reference to the classic Twilight Zone episode, “It’s a Good Life”). Example of Linden sense of humour. It was finally removed from the grid in mid 2012.
HOWEVER … drumroll … I am so excited to share with you that of the two sim’s donated to SL10B by Linden Labs, one is the infamous Corn Field sim. Yes you heard me . .the one and only!
Of course, purely to ensure my blog content covers all aspects of SL10B, I had to go for a visit because well between you and me … although never caught there has always been a little bit of naughty in me. *grins* (especially in those younger avatar years)
I was thinking … a game of baseball in the corn fields sounds kinda cool … anyone up for it???
