I believe that sometimes an outfit creates its own photograph. By reflecting moods and thoughts clothes have the ability to breathe life into our pixels. Adding this sexy leather bolero jacket from JesyDream to an existing leather outfit the atmosphere immediately changed to one of smouldering confidence. Wandering around the streets, thoughts drifting to love and commitment and another great Australian rock song came to mind.
Powderfinger is one of Australia’s most loved bands. Hailing from Brisbane the band formed in 1989 recording hit album after hit album until November 2010 when they played their last song “These Days” in front of 10,000 fans at the River Stage in Brisbane.
Putting aside the collection of awards and hit songs over their twenty one years of ruling the Australian music charts, Powderfinger is most remembered for their commitment and active support for charity work.
The band performed in many benefit concerts from the Crowded House Farewell Concert supporting the Sydney Children’s Hospital to the 2005 Wave Aid Concert in the wake of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.
In front of an audience of 700 invited guests, Powderfinger again graced the steps of the Sydney Opera House in 2007 to support Breast Cancer. All attendee’s were either breast cancer patients, survivors or family supporters.
Sharing a great friendship Powderfinger and Silverchair combined their talents in 2007 putting on the Across the Great Divide Tour to promote Reconciliation Australia. The purpose of the concert to show that both bands were behind the idea of Reconciliation highlighting focus on the need to improve the welfare of Indigenous people of Australia.
Even Powderfinger’s farewell tour supported another indigenous organisation, Yalari which lobbies to provide indigenous children with opportunity to receive proper education.
The band declined to reform for the Premiers 2011 Queensland flood disaster concert instead donating all proceeds from a never released track “I’m on Your Side”, to help raise money for the victims.
