Embracing the “Y”

When you release expectations,

you are free to enjoy things for what they are

instead of what you think they should be.

~ Mandy Hale.

When I recently joined the blogger team for J&A Culture, I fully expected to be showcasing their designs within my posts. What I didn’t factor in was the urge to embrace my “inner male” or should I say, dig around in my inventory, throw on my man shape and skin all to share their male range. Meet, Prince B the “Y” of PB.

I have noticed that within the SecondLife blog-sphere just as within SecondLife, men don’t get the amount of information provided about well priced, quality clothing that women enjoy.  Some will argue that the majority of men don’t care what they look like nor do they have the time to dedicate to shopping inside SecondLife. Maybe that is true; however I know quite a few well dressed men who create their own style and know how to accessorize successfully. I also know most women would gladly steer their man towards better clothing or AO’s if given half the chance.

With some investment of time, a decent avatar can be created with little expenditure of lindens. Given that I rarely take on a male form, “Prince B” has been created using a skin and shape which were previous hunt gifts. Even the flip flops upon his feet are a past hunt gift. This entire mesh outfit of shirt with joined ti-shirt and linen shorts is currently available from J&A Culture for only 189 Linden at The Thrift store. He doesn’t look half bad if you ask me … but I could be a little bias.

I would also counter the often stated argument with a gentle reminder that women DO care. With all the great hunt gifts incorporating mesh clothing, group gifts and discounted sale events there is no real reason, aside from laziness as to why any avatar should look like a newbie, except those that are under a few months old.

Ladies if you wish to help your man in the fashion department, my suggestion would be, source out outfits and stores prior to even contemplating dragging him out to shop. Time wasted is never enjoyable for anyone. For men wondering how to do a makeover. Step one is learning how to adjust your shape so that you can wear mesh clothing. The quality of textures on a mesh item will instantly refresh and renew your pixels. (Always try the DEMO item before buying mesh.) Think about the style of clothing you are most comfortable in and then find items that mix and match within that style set.

The rewards to a remake are ten fold. Trust me 🙂
