I was excited to see this month’s theme for Genre is Baroque. There is something about the Baroque period that stirs me with creativity, making my imagination come alive. A time of exuberance and drama as people embraced the sensual richness of expression within all forms of the arts.
Elaborate ballrooms, decorated with such grandeur. Ornate wood carvings, stunning tapestries and artwork rich with colour and emotion.
A period in history noted for being a time of “exaggerated artistic style”. The heavy stage makeup and eccentric hairstyles for both men and women certainly could give credit to that claim.
For me, it is an opportunity for a fantasy roleplay …
… glancing at the staircase he finds himself enthralled by the vision above. She appears to float, just like a feather, upon each step as she makes her descent. The unusual colour choice for the scattering of dyed flowers in her hair testament to this woman’s unique qualities. With confidence she smiles and nods to those below, lowering her eyelashes as she finally meets his gaze.
Captured by her gracefulness, he steps forward. As she reaches the last step he boldly takes her gloved hand in an invitation to dance; aware he will not be the only man to seek attention from this lady tonight.
remember tonight for it is the beginning of always
With items priced 100 Lindens or below the Genre event is one not to be missed. Especially if like me, you enjoy a touch of fantasy and roleplay in your SecondLife existence.
